NDRC/ GEF/ The World Bank China Renewable Energy Development Project (REDP) is an international cooperation project between the Chinese Government, the GEF and the World Bank, Which is launched on December 12 of 2001 and expected close on June 30 of 2008.

Through the project, the initiators aim to enlarge and develop China's renewable energy market, thus: accelerating its industrialization and commercialization; improving the energy structure; introducing international advanced technology; easing difficult environmental pressures; providing electricity access to people in rural communities not served by electricity networks and contributing to sustainable economic and social development.
